I Will Not Be Posting anymore ---- Please Enjoy My Blog

I say this because I am Physically and Mentally Exhausted and Drained.

Catholic Classics Unlimited was a "Work of Art" devised by Me way back in 2013.

However, since then this Blog has been subject to many "Hacker Attacks" which has left me exasperated in more ways than one.

In 2016 as well as in 2017, Hackers and their followers made all sorts of attempts to infect this Blog with viruses, worms, and malware because they were incensed at seeing Links in the form of Catholic Books Online in their entirety from the "Internet Archive".

Twice in the past 1 year I posted Links to Catholic Books from the Internet Archive and twice it was met with opposition. So, I simply took them out.

From 2013 till now, I have posted 180 Articles on various topics specially on the Blessed Sacrament as well as on Our Lady and on the Saints too.

My Advice to Readers of this Blog is to enjoy reading the Traditional and Orthodox Catholic Articles on this Blog and share them with like minded people.

Au Revoir, Then -- Goodbye.

P.S. -- This Blog will be online forever.

Blessed Ceferino Namuncura -- An Amazing South American Indian

Young Ceferino's Life is a Life Story of 19 years but rich in authentic Catholic Christian Spirituality.

He was born at Chimpay in Argentina on August 26, 1886 and was baptized two years later by a Famous Salesian Missionary by the name of Father Milanesio who had brokered a Peace Treaty between the Mapuche -- An Indigenous South American Indian Tribe and the Argentinean Army.

Ceferino was 11 years old when His Father enrolled Him in the Govt School in Buenos Aires.

However, Ceferino realized that He was out of place in such a school and therefore His Father took him to a Salesian School named after the Pope Pius X.

Ceferino immediately showed much interest in Academics.

There were two instances that took him to the path of Holiness.

He loved reading about the Life of Dominic Savio and He treasured His First Holy Communion where He made a Vow to be faithful always to His Great Friend Jesus Christ.

Ceferino's Spirituality was akin to his Salesian Surroundings that were solidly rooted in the Sacraments Specially the Holy Eucharist.

In 1903, When Ceferino was seventeen Monsignor Cagliero accepted Him along with a group of Aspirants to the Aspirantate at Viedma to begin their study of Latin essential at that time to be ordained to the Catholic Priesthood.

It was during those years when His Spirituality was blossoming that He became extremely ill with Tuberculosis.

Seeing His Sickly State Monsignor Cagliero took him to an Aspirantate in Italy where the weather was better than where He was.

In no time, He mastered the art of speaking and writing in Italian.

On March 28, 1905 He had to be admitted to the Hospital where He passed away on May 11.

Ceferino wanted to become a Catholic Priest so that He could contribute to the Cultural and Spiritual Development of his native people.

An All Encompassing Perspective on Psalm 65

"To You Our Praise is Due" begins this Psalm for in the Blessed Sacrament Jesus Christ shows us the depth of His Love. He was willing to be pierced on Calvary so that He might pour out to us the abundance of His All Encompassing Love in the Holy Eucharist.

He experienced "Total Abandonment" on the Cross so that He could be our constant companion and faithful friend in the Holy Eucharist.

"We Pay Our Vows" to Him by completely giving up ourselves to His Will. This Psalm tells us that Jesus Christ hears every prayer and answers it according to the positive aspects that it brings about in Our Life.

Any Prayer or Petition that God does not answer simply means that He has something much better in mind for us.

"To You All Flesh Will Come" means that Christ who was lifted up on the Cross will draw all souls to His Eucharistic Heart.

All Flesh expresses the significance that each of us has to submit his Passions to the Eucharistic Heart of Christ.

We Live in a Pagan Secular and Materialistic World that is constantly seeking Self- Gratification from the Pleasures of the Flesh.

Yet, Christ teaches us that it is the Spirit only which gives fulfillment in our day to day lives.

What better place to find strength amidst the World's Temptations than in the Eucharistic Arms of Our Saviour.

"Blessed is He whom you choose and call to dwell in Your Courts" means it was the Eternal Father aka Abba aka God Who chose you to be with Him right now.

He chose you out of countless others because he wants to shower His Love and Blessings on you in the special way of "Perpetual Adoration".

God has chosen you to adore Him so that His Blessings through his Son Jesus may flow to you from His Eucharistic Heart.

Like Saint Paul, His Grace is enough for us in our journey towards our lasting dwelling place that is the Wedding Feast that God has prepared for us for all eternity.

Meditating on Psalm 84

Psalm 84 begins with "How lovely is your dwelling place -- Lord God of Hosts".

There is no place on earth where there is more love than where you are right now. In the Blessed Sacrament, All the Love of Heaven and Earth is contained.

Within the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Christ, dwells the source of all Love, Human and Divine.

Just like the sparrow finds a "Home" in the Nest, Our "Home" is in the Eucharistic Christ.

Each person who comes before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is welcomed by him with unspeakable Enthusiasm and Delight.

The "Roads to Zion" are the Gospel, the Teachings of the Holy Catholic Church, and participation in Her Holy Sacraments which can be described as a "Seven Fold Gift".

The "Bitter Valley" is our earthly tribulation. The Apostle Paul tells us that on earth We do not have a lasting city -- We seek a Home that is yet to come. (Hebrews 13:14).

We are a people who are on a continuous pilgrimage.

"One Day within your courts is better than a Thousand elsewhere" expresses the unspeakable value of "Perpetual Adoration".

Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament fills us with Spiritual Riches and increases our Divine Union with Him.

Many People feel "Eucharistic Adoration" is a waste of time. This is because their priorities are not correct and their journey in life has no purpose beyond the "Material World" in which they live.

Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament points to our "Eternal Destiny" and gives us the light and strength to reach it.

Whenever, We get frustrated or exasperated with Life -- We should simply set our eyes on the "Whiteness" of the Sacred Host because that is where the Risen Saviour dwells in all His Majesty 24-7-365.

The Eucharistic Christ is our "Faithful Friend" in more ways than one.

Eucharistic Procession in Decades arouses fervor in North West China

The Procession of the Blessed Sacrament in Zhouzhi Diocese in North West China in half a century has stimulated devotion among Local Catholics there.

To the Accompaniment of Drums, Trumpets, and Firecrackers -- Four Village Churches in Mei County, Shaanxi Province joined the Eucharistic Procession.

A Parishioner with the Surname Li said some Catholics could hardly believe what they were seeing. They were amazed to see the Blessed Sacrament being brought to their rural parishes.

This was the First Eucharistic Procession to be held in North West China since 1949.

Many Non - Catholic Villagers were curious and stepped out of their homes to see what exactly was going on.

The Event had an Evangelizing Effect as a Witness of the Catholic Faith noting that the Procession went around some Factories run by Catholics where Non Catholic Workers are also present.

This Eucharistic Procession passed through 5 Villages. Catholic Families kneeled and prayed as it passed by. On entering each of these villages with Parish Churches the Procession Participants went to the Church for a Benediction Service with the Blessed Sacrament.

Zhouzhi Diocese has more than 60,000 Catholics with more than 54 Priests, 200 Churches, 120 Seminarians or more and 200 Odd Sisters of various Congregations.

Catholic Community Maintains Faith Without A Priest For More Than 50 Years

Catholics in a remote mountain are of South Western China continue to keep their God Given Faith Alive, even though no Catholic Priest has been stationed there for more than 50 Years.

About 5,000 Catholics mainly Drung, Lisu, Nu, and Tibetan Ethnic Minorities in Gongshan Drungzu Nuzu Autonomous County in North Western Yunnan Province pray together daily.

Gongshan County is more than 2,000 Kilometers from Beijing.

Here, Local Catholics have not only maintained their faith but they have also evangelized. When It is Winter, and it is impossible to till the land -- Catholics go in groups of 2 or 3 to visit and to preach to Non - Catholic Villagers at their Homes.

Because of the many different ethnic minority groups in the county it is hard to use the Holy Bible to evangelize because the Holy Bible is available only in Chinese, Tibetan, and Lisu.

This is why Catholics use Hymns to spread the Good News instead.

Father Paul Chen Kaihua of Kunming Diocese in the same province said that after learning about this Catholic Community from the faithful in his diocese he has started visiting them twice a year.

Father Chen said He was impressed by their Catholic Faith.

Despite, The absence of a Catholic Priest He said the number of Catholic Churches has grown to 15 from the 3 established in 1949. The number of Catholics also grew from just 1,000 to more than 5,000 thanks to the Evangelization by Lay People.

French Catholic Missionaries served this area before 1949.

The Priest recounted that the blessing of 2 New Catholic Churches has encouraged the Catholics to continue to expand their community much as they have been doing in recent years.

Father John Fang Ping from Urumqi Diocese visited Gongshan County after a Parishioner working in Yunnan Province told him about these Catholics. Father Fang says it is one of China's Poorest Counties.

The Villagers seldom see a Catholic Priest. Occasionally, Priests from other Dioceses pay short visits but usually it is the Catholics who gather by themselves to pray.

The Villagers had built by themselves two churches and carried every piece of Brick, Wood, and Rock Uphill where the Churches are currently situated.

At the Blessing Ceremony of these Catholic Churches Father Fang recalled that the Catholic Villagers dressed in their ethnic costumes and offered their Farm Produce as well as Chickens, Lambs, and Cows as Gifts to God.

Finally, in Gongshan County Father Fang learned to say the Hail Mary among the Catholic Villagers in Tibetan. This is an important cultural  heritage of the Catholic Church in Yunnan Province.

A Unique Catholic Parish in Croatia

A Catholic Parish in Croatia in Eastern Europe has opened a "Prayer Cafe" for Young People where Food and Drink can be bought with Hail Mary's and Our Fathers.

In the Acts of the Apostles, It says that the Disciples used to come together for a Meal after the Holy Eucharist so in the case of this Catholic Parish in Croatia they are following a Biblical Tradition.

This Cafe opened recently in a Parish Hall adjoining Holy Spirit Church in Zagreb and attracts a lot of Youth who attend Sunday Mass on a regular basis.

Salesian Father Damir Stojic says that Young Catholics had thought up the idea of "Paying With Prayers". There are Plans to keep this cafe open indefinitely.

The Priest said that Parish Leaders had encouraged Parents to donate Food and Drink for the cafe and that Church Authorities had supported this idea.

Father Stojic said that this cafe could be seen as continuing a tradition since a large number of Salesian Parishes all over the world ran cafes at their churches.

Prices at the cafe vary from three Our Fathers for a Standard Cup of Coffee to a more expensive Coca Cola which costs Five Hail Marys and a Glory Be.

A cup of Cappuccino costs 4 Our Fathers.

Other Items on the Menu include Fruit Juices, various kinds of Tea, and a Range of Cakes and Cookies.

Alcohol is strictly not allowed.

Father Stojic says that when you get something for free it is hard to appreciate it, but when you have a Price List such as this cafe has it is appreciated a lot.

Catholics make up 88 % of Croatia's 5 Million Population.

Catholicism in Myanmar -- One Province says it all

Catholicism arrived in Myanmar also known as Burma in the 15th Century along with Portuguese Missionaries and Explorers.

But, It was not till the 20th Century that it really got an impetus in the form of conversions and growth.

In Loikaw Province in Myanmar, Catholics are 25 per cent of the population, this in a country where Catholics are not even 1 per cent.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus in my Life

The Heart of Jesus has always had a special place in my "Spiritual Life".

From the age of 10, I have been amazed at the love shown to us "Unworthy Sinners" by the Pierced Heart of Jesus.

The Pierced Heart of Jesus is the Heart of the God - Man who was subject to so many indignities simply because he loved us tremendously.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is not turned away at the sight of our sins. Rather, It loves us more and more all the time. In this regard, The Cleansing Blood of the Heart of Jesus is of "Infinite Value".

The Sacred Heart of Jesus beats for us all the time even when we are distant from God and His Church.

The Heart of Jesus is a Heart of "Divine Love" waiting to light up our tepid Heart and Soul and bring us back to God's Teachings which we need most in our day to day life.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus worked a massive miracle in my life which needs to be narrated here.

In 1998, when I was living in Philadelphia in the United States I was diagnosed with an "Inner Ear Infection" which caused me to get dizzy spells specially spells of vertigo.

I prayed to every saint to heal me of this terrible ailment but nothing seemed to help. I finally turned to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and instantly I fell in love with the Crown of Thorns around his "Divine Heart".

I prayed earnestly to the Sacred Heart to heal me completely and in a matter of a few months I was as good as new.

The Prayer that helped me was a short prayer that I prayed every day 10 times a day.

"Sacred Heart of Jesus, I put all my trust in Thee". I placed my trust in the Merciful Heart of Jesus when nothing else seemed to work in my life.

Try It -- It Works.

Divine Mercy Devotion in Goa

The Divine Mercy Devotion in Goa is actively promoted by the Discalced Carmelite Friars of the Karnataka - Goa Province.

A Name synonmous with the Propagation of the Divine Mercy Devotion in Goa throughout his Life was Father Anastasio Gomes O.C.D. He was truly an Apostle of Divine Mercy in Goa.

He saw to it that Divine Mercy Literature both in Konkani -- The State Language of Goa as well as in English was printed and disseminated among the faithful.

My Family specially my Father Dr. Joe D'sa M.D. and my late Mother Mrs Lena D'sa as well as myself helped Father Anastasio Gomes to raise money for the building of an Altar dedicated to the Divine Mercy.

We did this by visiting Catholic Families in various parts of Mumbai and asking for Donations towards the building of this Divine Mercy Altar and Divine Mercy Chapel as it exists now.

A Certain Discalced Carmelite Friar by the name of Father Michael Morris Shenoy was a good friend of my Parents when He was stationed at Carmelite Seminary, Peddem -- Mapusa -Goa.

Read all about the Propagation of the Divine Mercy Message and Devotion in Goa here.

I would like to be a Catholic Evangelist in China

I strongly believe that God sent me on earth to be an Evangelist among the Chinese People of Mainland China.

I would like to convert thousands and thousands of Chinese to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Christ -- the Source of all Grace and Mercy.

The Eucharistic Heart of Jesus means everything to me and I would like to make his Divine Love known to the Han Chinese from Beijing to Shanghai and from Shanghai to Chengdu.

The Han Chinese seem to be very receptive to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I would like to promote Eucharistic Adoration in China as if there was no tomorrow.

My Biggest Objective in evangelizing the Chinese is to see that they develop a strong affection for the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity for Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.

I would like to see Eucharistic Adoration Chapels in every diocese in China but specially in North - West China specially in the Diocese of Zhouzhi.

Blessed Sacrament Processions are the need of the Hour in various provinces in China specially in Sichuan, Yunnan, Hebei, and Gansu to name a few.

The Person of Jesus Christ needs to be promoted in China among those who live in Cities as well as in the countryside.

I would like to make the Chinese "Living Tabernacles" for Jesus Christ.

Catholicism in Mongolia -- A Young Church that is Dynamic in more ways than one

Catholicism in Mongolia is a Young Religion.

It was introduced only in 1992, making it only 25 years old.

The Catholic Community in Mongolia numbers a little over 1,000 members now and there are 6 Parishes now in Mongolia when there were none in 1992.

Recently, the First Native Mongolian Priest was ordained to the Priesthood.

Here are some interesting links on Catholicism in Mongolia.

Mission Among The Montagnards of the Highlands of Vietnam

Ethnic Tribal Montagnards are the dominant group that live in the Highlands of Central Vietnam.

They are Animists by Religion.

They have a constant hunger for Jesus Christ in His Holy Sacrament and in His Holy Word.

They see Jesus Christ as their "Divine Physician" of their souls and of their bodies.

To them, Jesus Christ is the Universal Saviour that sets them free from Sin and Bondage.

Evangelization Work among Tribal Montagnards has been highly and hugely successful since 2003.

There has been a wave of conversions to the Catholic Faith among Tribal Montagnards since 2008.

In 2008, 30,000 Montagnards embraced the Catholic Faith and in 2009 20,000 Montagnards embraced the Catholic Faith.

The Catholic Church is growing rapidly in the highlands of Central Vietnam and in North Vietnam too to a considerable extent.

Praised be Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament for the miracles he is working among the Montagnard People.

Catholicism in Cambodia

The Cambodian Catholic Church is a small community with a great history.

The history of Catholic missionary work began in 1554 with a visit by a Jesuit Missionary Priest.

The first Catholic Parishes were founded in the 17th century by Jesuits, Dominicans and Franciscans.

In the 1700's  the Catechism was translated into Khmer by the priests of the Paris Foreign Missions and in 1850 the Apostolic Prefecture of Cambodia was created.

The first Cambodian born priest was ordained in 1957.

Only in 1990 were Christians allowed to practice their faith.

Here is an interesting link on Catholicism in Cambodia.

Martyrs honoured in Central Vietnam

Catholics from a Central Vietnam Diocese celebrated 400 years of the Faith and remembered Martyrs who were killed for the Faith.

Three Jesuit Missionaries established the first mission station in the 1600's in Central Vietnam.

From that Mission Station, the Missionaries promoted Catholicism to all the surrounding places.

The Missionaries were responsible for the romanisation of the Vietnamese Language.

This Anniversary Event of 400 years of the Faith was aimed at remembering ancestors of present day Vietnamese Catholics who sacrificed their own lives willingly for the spread of the Catholic Faith in Central Vietnam.

More than 20,000 Catholics were martyred in Vietnam in the 18th and 19th Centuries.

Andrew Yen was the first Vietnamese who was killed for following the Catholic Faith on July 26, 1644. He was beatified by Saint Pope John Paul 2 in March 2000.

He is known as the Patron of Catholic Catechists in Vietnam.

It seems to me that the Catholic Faith is spreading rapidly in Vietnam as it is in China.

Edmund Bojanowski -- A Noble Soul

Introduction :

Edmund Bojanowski was born on the 14th of November 1814 into the noble family of Grobonog of the principality of Poznan.

From a young age, Edmund nurtured a great love for Jesus Christ, Mother Mary, and the Church.

Edmund was a sickly child when he was young. He was so sick once, that his mother took him to the Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows at Gostyn to pray for his recovery that took place miraculously.

Proof of His Cure is evident in that Marian Shrine.

Since, He was a sickly child, He was taught at home. He often meditated on the Gospels where he got an insight into the Personality and Spirituality of Jesus. His attendance at Daily Mass was 100 %.

Later, when he was older he helped country folks to live their spiritual lives intensely for Jesus and Mary.

Founder of a Religious Order of Women :

In 1850, He founded an Institute to instruct and educate children in the faith and in life.

With this purpose in mind, he asked for the help of simple polish catholic girls who were not very literate but rich in the faith.

He saw to it that they were adequately trained for the project in hand.

He taught these peasant girls about daily prayer, meditation, spiritual reading, and making a weekly confession.

In order, to spread education in the countryside, care, and helping the sick Edmund used up a large amount of his Inheritance.

He was indeed to the nth degree a Genuine Catholic giving everything to Jesus and to others.

Edmund's Life ended on August 17, 1871 near the Marian Shrine of Gorka Duchowna.

The Congregation He founded numbered 22 Houses in the Poznan District and almost a 100 Sisters.

Istevan Sandor -- A Unique Martyr

Introduction :

Istevan Sandor's Family was from the Hungarian Nobility and were deeply catholic in more ways than one.

Stephen -- Istevan in Hungarian had a pleasant and generous nature.

The Priests of His Parish noticed his good qualities and advised him to join the Salesians.

As, He grew older he wanted to dedicate himself completely to educating the youth teaching them to love Jesus Christ.

The Young Salesian :

He worked in the Railways in Hungary but he soon began to understand that he wanted to follow Christ in the footsteps of Don Bosco. He joined the Aspirantate of the Salesians where he excelled and was soon accepted into the Novitiate.

When Istevan was 20 years old, he was called up by the Army during the Second World War.

All through his Military Service, He was an Exemplary Salesian. The Barracks and the Trenches became his Oratory.

Soon after the Second World War, Hungary was suppressed by Stalin and became a Communist State.

The Property of the Catholic Church was confiscated and the Catholic Schools were taken over by the Communist Authorities.

Istevan who was working at a Salesian Printing Press at that time saved a number of Printing Machines and Furniture at a great cost to himself.

Martyr for Jesus Christ :

Istevan had to leave not only the printing press but the Salesian Community where He was an Integral Member.

His Desire was to remain faithful to Jesus Christ even unto death.

On a certain day, in July 1952 the Hungarian Police arrested him. He was in prison for about a year.

After this, at a farce of a trial He was condemned to death for subversive activity.

The reality was that He was faithful to Christ, to Don Bosco, and to his Catholic Identity.

In 1953, Istevan Sandor was hanged. He suffered under Stalin for love to Jesus Christ.

A Salesian and Martyr only for Him.

Catholicism in Eastern India

Catholicism was introduced in Eastern India in the late 19th Century in the State of Jharkhand as it is called now by Pioneer Belgian and Dutch Jesuit Missionaries.

The most prominent of them was Father Constant Lievens S.J. -- The Apostle of Chotanagpur.

He arrived in Ranchi -- The Headquarters of the Chotanagpur Plateau in 1885. He did not know at that time what the future held for him in terms of evangelization and as a Missionary Pastor too.

With strong faith in God, he started educating and evangelizing Animist Oraon Tribals in Ranchi and in the surrounding areas too.

From 1885-1892, He Evangelized more than 7,000 Tribals to Catholicism. To be one with them, He mastered a number of local languages like Sadri and Khadri.

They are dialects of "Tribal Hindi" spoken by the Aboriginals of the Chotanagpur Plateau.

Today, in 2017 Ranchi is an Archdiocese with many independent Dioceses under it like Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, and Daltonganj to name a few.

The Oraon Tribals from Ranchi to Daltonganj seem very receptive to the Gospel Message. They see Jesus Christ as their Liberator and Saviour from Physical and Spiritual Bondage.

In a number of districts in West Bengal like Burdwan, Bankura, and Purulia to mention a few-- Santal Aboriginals seem very receptive to the liberating message of Jesus Christ.

There have been many conversions to Catholicism among Santal Tribals for the past 50 years or more.

This is mostly due to Pioneering Missionary Work by Salesian Fathers and Brothers specially from Spain.

Iraqi Catholic Christians

Introduction and History :

Iraqi Catholic Christians also known as "Chaldean Catholics" are an Ancient Catholic Community that exists in the Middle East.

There are less than 400, 000 left today in Iraq. 75% of all Iraqi Christians are "Chaldean Catholics".

The Chaldean Catholic Church was founded in Babylon in "Ancient Mesopotamia" sometime during the 2nd Century A.D.

The Chaldean People who lived in and around the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers were evangelized by Saint Jude Thaddeus, An Apostle of Jesus Christ sometime towards the middle of the First Century A.D. to Christianity.

They are one of 3-4 Catholic Communities in the Middle East that still speak "Aramaic" in word in the Liturgy as well as among themselves today.

Aramaic is the language that was spoken by Jesus Christ and His Apostles.

All About Chaldean Catholic Christians :

The Chaldean Catholic Church has been in communion with the Holy See at Rome for a number of Centuries, but specially from the 13th Century onwards.

During the 17th, 18th, and 19th Centuries in Iraq there was a substantial rise in numbers among Chaldean Catholics.

This was due to conversions to the Catholic Faith by Eastern Rite Orthodox Chaldeans.

Missionary Dominican Friars were instrumental in evangelizing a large number of Orthodox Chaldeans in Iraq to the Catholic Faith specially in and around Mosul in the 1700's and 1800's.

Mosul in Northern Iraq was a large Archdiocese with many Parishes and Churches dedicated to Our Lady.

The Plains of Nineveh near Mosul witnessed the biggest ever Missionary Movement among Orthodox Chaldeans towards the Catholic Faith in the 18th and 19th Centuries.

The vast majority of Chaldean Catholics used to live in Northern Iraq specially in Mosul, Erbil, and Qaraqosh.

The rest live in and around Baghdad and near Basra in Southern Iraq.

Chaldean Catholics of Iraq are "Very Precious" in terms of their Historical Significance and Spiritual Significance. They are Christianity's "Precious Soldiers".

Conclusion :

It is my prayer that Countries in the West will extend a helping hand to these Catholic Christians of Iraq with immediate effect.

Most importantly, Chaldean Catholic Christians of Iraq are the only "Native Catholic Christians in the Arabian Peninsula".

Let us do our utmost for them by word and by deed as they are "One of Our Own".

Dedication of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major or Feast of Our Lady of Snows August 5, 2017

Introduction and History :

This Special Marian Feast is closely linked to the construction of the Roman Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore -- Saint Mary Major.

The particular feast of Our Lady of Snows has its origin and current vitality in the Roman Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. Although no longer, remembered today, there is evidence of this devotion.

They say the name that was given to the Chapel there since 1832-- was the Chapel of the Madonna Mora which came to be translated as "Santa Maria Maggiore".

A series of manuscripts found in the nearby Franciscan Library recalls the existence of such a feast. It was for the first time that in 1466, the feast was described as the Feast of "The Madonna of Snows".

A Miniature shows snow falling covering the area where the Church was to be built. This piece of Documentation hastened the spread of the devotion around the Fifteenth Century.

In the Fourth Century, during the Pontificate of Pope Liberius (352 - 366 A.D.) John, a noble and wealthy Roman Patrician had no child so He and his Wife decided to leave their inheritance to the Virgin desiring that a Church be built and Dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In response to this, Mary herself appeared to them in a dream on the night between the 4th and 5th of August, the warmest time of the year in Rome and pointed out a place with a miracle where the Church was to be built.

The next day, the couple went to the Pope and told him of the dream and they were not surprised that he too had the same vision in which the Esquiline Hill was indicated as the place for the future construction.

As, They went up there, they found the place covered with snow. Pope Liberius traced the perimeter of the Church following the surface of the ground covered with snow and built there a Church with the Legacy of that devout couple.

Pope Sixtus -- The Third (432-440 A.D.) rebuilt it and made it much larger giving it the title of the "Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore" because it was the most prominent of all the Churches dedicated to Our Lady.

Since 1568, the official name of the liturgical feast was "Our Lady of Snows". It was later changed to "The Dedication of Santa Maria Maggiore" and left on the 5th of August.

Modern Day History :

The Miracle of the Snow -- not proven historically was forgotten even though there was no objection to its validity.

Every Year on the 5th of August, there is a shower of Rose White Petals within the confines of the Cathedral/Basilica.

The Miracle of the Snowfall is in fact reenacted before the eyes of the gathered congregation by means of a cascade of white petals that fall from the ceiling over the main altar, blanketing the ground below creating an almost ideal union between the Congregation and the Mother of God.

The Petals fall through a trap door on the coffered ceiling of the Basilica and last as long as the "Gloria" is sung.

Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel -- Patroness of the Brown Scapular and much much more

Tomorrow, the 16th of July is the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the Patroness of the Brown Scapular which protects one from sudden acts of evil as well as sudden accidents.

Our Lady appeared to Saint Simon Stock in England as Our Lady of Mount Carmel and gave him the Brown Scapular as He was a Carmelite Friar. She asked him to promote it like no tomorrow.

One of her Promises was that anyone who wears the Brown Scapular shall not be consumed by Fire or drown in water.

I am a Parishioner of the Parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Bandra West, Mumbai. I have fond memories over the years with regard to the celebration of this awesome and amazing Feast Day.

The Chief Celebrant for the Feast Day Mass would be brought in a Royal Procession to the Church led by the Confraternity of Mount Carmel and Musicians in attendance.

This would start from the corner of Bazar Road and Chapel Road and end up in the Church Compound.

The Chief Celebrant was usually a Bishop of eminent standing either from the Archdiocese of Mumbai or outside.

Now, I will talk about the Miracles wrought by Our Lady of Mount Carmel in my personal life.

When I was 24 years old, I was studying for my final year in law and because I had not studied very well I was sure that I was going to fail as the paper that I had answered was not to the best of my Intellectual Ability.

Yet, When the results were declared for the L.L.B. Examination I had passed -- This is surely a Miracle worked by the Mother of God in my favour.

When I was 26 in 1997 and I was living in the United States I had nowhere to live as a Student as my present lease had expired. I searched high and low for an Apartment in Centre City Philadelphia but none could be found.

It then dawned on me that I was literally on the street with no kind person to take me in for a few months till I found my feet again so to speak.

Out of literally nowhere, Mother Mary of Mount Carmel got me a Studio Apartment in Centre City Philadelphia in a safe neighborhood for a few months till I could take a decision on my future in the United States.

The Final Miracle was the best miracle of all. It happened to me in Mumbai in 2005.

I was diagnosed with Hyper Thyroidism which caused my hands to constantly shiver non - stop.

In a matter of months, I was out of the woods with regard to this particular illness. All this can be attributed to Divine Intervention by Our Lady of Mount Carmel whose Brown Scapular I have always worn from the age of 8 till the present age of 45.

I can personally endorse the garment of the brown scapular to anyone for a miracle regarding an illness or regarding anything in life.

Happy Feast to One and All.

A Perspective on the Blessed Sacrament and on the Personality of Saint John

John is the "Blessed" Apostle whom Christ brought close to Himself on Maundy Thursday Night.

At the Last Supper Discourse, as John reclined not far from the Heart of Christ He felt the deep personal love of the God - Man.

As, He rested on the Saviour's Heart, He took a conscious decision to drink from the living waters of "Godly Love" that flowed from the Heart of Christ.

From Henceforth, John saw himself "Uniquely" as the one loved by the Lord. All writings of Saint John are full of themes connected to the Incarnation -- The Word Made Flesh.

The Blessed Eucharist is the continuation of Christ's dwelling on Earth.

In Saint John's Prologue, We understand the Beauty and the Meaning of the Holy Eucharist.

"Christ became Flesh and made his dwelling among us". "His Glory we have seen, coming straight from the Eternal Father".

John truly believed that Christ loved him more than anyone else He loved.

This is what Christ, wants everyone to do -- to believe in a deep rooted way that He loves us in a deep, personal, unconditional way, despite all our sins and failures of the past.

John, the much loved Apostle, represents all Human Souls. We are all special in the eyes of Christ.

Basing One's thoughts on the Holy Eucharist, each one should see themselves as the "One Christ Loved".

Let us take a look at God in a simple way. He is the one who created the Universe and yet He is the One who abases himself in the small "Sacred Host" to be our Friend forever.

Like John, Christ wants you to say in an appreciative way --

Jesus, I believe in your love for me.

Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Christ, I put all my trust in You.

A Perspective on the Blessed Sacrament and on the 1st Letter of Saint Peter

How Great it is for the Three of Us to be here said Saint Peter to the Lord when Christ was transfigured in glory at the Holy Mountain -- namely Mount Tabor.

All Souls who come before Christ in the Blessed Sacrament must have the same attitude. How good it is for us to be here !!

We are more blessed in being chosen to keep Christ company in the Blessed Sacrament than Peter was as a witness to His Transfiguration.

Here, Christ conceals His Glory from our special senses -- namely Eyes so that in faith we can come to Him.

Christ hides his Beauty and His Glory because He wants us to love Him for Himself. He becomes a Beggar in appearance, so that we may be rich supernaturally.

What happens now is the Transfiguration in reverse. Every Moment, that you spend before Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, Christ transfigures your soul and your heart with His glory making you extremely beautiful in heaven.

Here, as at Mount Tabor Christ points us Heavenward, while giving Human Souls the grace and the strength to carry their Cross on Planet Earth.

Here, We are taught the "Great Value of Suffering".

Like Fire that transforms everything to be one with it, so also suffering transforms us and makes us have a "Perfect Union with Christ" as it purifies and cleanses us from Pride and Selfishness and Vanity.

Here, We offer to Christ Our Sufferings so that He may make them into "Salutary Graces" to be given to Souls to be drawn to His Eucharistic Heart.

Finally, As the Holy Apostles were privileged to be witnesses to His Transfiguration, We are specially privileged to be in his Divine Eucharistic Presence.

A Taste of Heavenly Paradise

The Objective of Eucharistic Adoration is the Divine Person of Our Lord, present really and substantially in the Blessed Sacrament.

He is eagerly wanting to talk to us. This Conversation between a Human Soul and Our Lord is Authentic "Eucharistic Adoration".

The Sole Door to the Heart of Jesus is Love and Love itself. Speak to Christ, about his Heavenly Father whom he loves so much as he spoke about him when he was on earth.

Speak to Christ, of his Mother Mary who He loved so much even unto death on the Cross.

We must always remember that the Eucharist is Christ as He was in the past -- several thousand years ago in Palestine, As He is now at present in the 21st Century, and as He will be in the future for years to come.

The Eucharist, then should be the 1st Point of "Our Meditations" on the various mysteries and revelations of Our Glorious Faith.

Taking that forward, it is certainly easy to find a connection between the Birth of Our Adorable Lord in the stable among the animals and His Birth on the Sacred Altar as well as in our souls and hearts.

It is easy to see that the Life which can be considered a "Hidden Life" led by Our Lord in Nazareth continues in the form of the Sacred Host in the Tabernacle.

The Sorrowful Passion of Our Divine Saviour is seen each time We Celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass day in and day out.

Finally, Let us give thanks to the Eternal Father for giving us Jesus Christ as "Our Brother and Teacher" not only on the Cross where He redeemed Mankind but most importantly in "Divine Bread".

Let us always promote His "Sacramental State" to anyone and everyone we come across along Life's Way.

The Devotion to the Precious Blood

Introduction :

It can be said that the Soul of Jesus Christ, His Body, His Blood, and His Divinity which are one with His Humanity constantly give rise to Devotions in the Church.

The Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries brought forth many devotions in the Catholic Church, most notably the Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus promoted by Saints like Margaret Mary Alacoque, Claude Dela Colombiere, and John Eudes.

It can be said that the Precious Blood brought forth the Church. The Grandeur of the Precious Blood can be seen in the Sacraments we have today.

The Precious Blood is the "Wealth" of the Sacred Heart and is interconnected to it.

The Precious Blood magnifies the Church in more ways than one and the Church in its turn magnifies the Precious Blood.

The Objective of the Church, like that of the Precious Blood is to be Universal.

The Church is an Institution which has been established to make the salvation of souls easier and more fruitful.

In speaking of Personalities, who based their Life on the Precious Blood -- We need to first speak about Saint Paul.

Saint Paul talks a lot about the Precious Blood and His Life based on the Precious Blood in His various Letters.

The Precious Blood gave forth to the fruit of His ''Miraculous Conversion" and Apostolate spread in many countries from Crete to Rome.

Conclusion :

Among the Church Fathers, in the early centuries of the Church -- We have Saint John Chrysostom who spoke widely of the Precious Blood in His Life in His various writings.

Among the Saints devoted to the Precious Blood, mention must be made of Saint Gertrude who said the most profound things about the Precious Blood.

Finally It was Saint Catherine of Siena who can be considered to be a Modern Day Prophet and who had a "Unique Apostolate" devoted to the Precious Blood.

She described the Precious Blood as an Important "Remedy" to the evil times we live in.

Catholicism in Mainland China

Introduction :

Catholicism was introduced in China in the Middle Ages by an Italian Jesuit Missionary called "Matteo Ricci".

Thereafter, It got an impetus from Belgian Catholic Missionaries most notably from the Missionaries of the Immaculate Heart of Mary also known as "Scheut Missionaries".

Hebei is the largest and most numerous Catholic Province in China with an estimated population of 1 Million Catholics.

Other Traditional Catholic Strongholds in Mainland China are North- Western Shaanxi, Central Shanxi, and Zhejiang Provinces -- All of them with estimated Catholic Populations of more than 200,000 each.

This is all due to the untiring efforts of Zealous Chinese Catholic Priests, Nuns, and most importantly "Catechists" who play a pivotal role in introducing Wannabe's to the Catholic Faith.

The Role of Lay Catechists in the Chinese Catholic Church :

Catechists play an "Invaluable" role in bringing Chinese Folks to the Catholic Faith.

These Catechists who live in Western China and in North - Western China mostly come from the countryside.

Their Vigorous and Rigorous Catholic Christian Life attracts non -believers to the Faith in large numbers.

These Zealous Catechists evangelize through their writings, sermons, and acts of charity when they go from one village to the other.

These Catechists who are zealous from every perspective leave their homes and spare no effort at all with regard to Evangelization.

Conclusion :

Let us pray constantly for the Catholic Church in Mainland China that they maybe one soon.

It seems to me that Han Chinese are attracted a lot to Catholicism. May their Tribe increase.

Transubstantiation -- Do I believe in it and appreciate it ??

Theologians describe Transubstantiation as a Positive and True Change and a substantial change of the Bread and Wine into the Adorable and Loving Body and Blood of Christ.

This happens on the Altar through the hands of a Priest who is another "Christ". In Short, This is a "Miracle" of Immense Proportions.

This Miracle of the Conversion from Bread and Wine into the beloved Body and Blood of Christ is miraculous in quality and quantity.

What do I mean by this ??

When I say Miraculous in Quantity, I mean that under ordinary circumstances The Sacred Body of Our Lord ought to have its physical dimensions but it has none.

Similarly, When I say Miraculous in Quality I am referring to its action vis - a - vis our senses. But, There is none. From a Quality Perspective -- It is invisible yet present to everyone.

The Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ is miraculous in all possible ways. The events that unfold at the Altar through the Sacred Hands of a Priest should be seen with the eyes of Faith and Nothing Else.

The Adorable Body of Our Lord -- are together whether its His Eyes, Head, Heart, or Feet.

The Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ is placed in different positions and moved up and down the Altar, yet He remains with us as "One Whole Person".

That is the Beauty of the Holy Eucharist in the Catholic Church. Our Lord is a Prisoner for us in the Tabernacle and on the Altar. He remains, the most attentive person in this Universe even while He is undergoing changes on the Altar.

Therefore, The Blessed Sacrament can be said to be the "Compendium of all Miracles".

The Sacramental Presence of Our Lord undergoes numerous changes before it is consumed by the Communicant. All these changes are "Supernatural" and wrought by Divine Means.

Let us never doubt the Sacred Presence of Our Lord.

Jan Tyranowski -- An Awesome Spiritual Guide

Jan Tyranowski lived in Krakow at Debniki on 15 Rozana Street. He was born in 1900.

Externally, He was no different to any other boy.

From His Childhood, Jan was given a very intense Christian Formation.

His Father was a Tailor, and had a workshop where his younger brother Edward worked too.

His Mother was a Housewife but Jan tried to major in Commerce so he could take up a Career.

From the time, He was very young He fled from crowds and from general contact with people. That was why, He left his job of book- keeping preferring to work instead as a tailor in his Father's Workshop.

For Jan, attending Mass daily and receiving Holy Communion, praying the Whole Rosary of Our Lady and spending time in meditation was what he most cherished in order to build his intimacy with God.

He was a "Monk in the World".

Poland was invaded by the Nazis during the Second World War. There were terrible sufferings and unspeakable crimes being thoughtlessly perpetrated by the Demonic Nazis.

At that point, there were hundreds of youngsters yearning for a deeper union with God.

Several of them between the ages of 14 to 25 gathered at Jan's House to pray the Rosary. They were divided into 2 sections according to their ages but they joined together to follow the "Living Rosary".

Here, They meditated on the Mysteries of the Rosary and contemplated on them trying to apply the Mysteries to their daily lives.

Each Boy was called to form another group of 15 Friends, each with a "Mystery" to be prayed in this Rosary Apostolate.

This had to be the "Revelation of a Saint".

The Priests of the Parish of Saint Stanislaus were the Salesians of Don Bosco at Debniki where Jan lived cheerfully kept saying :

"Look at Our Saint" and they also added "God's Glory resides on Rozana Street".

Like a simple Catholic Christian Layman, He drew his strength from the sublime font of the Saviour who possessed His Life completely.

He spoke only about God and how God permitted his apostolate to spring from his contemplation of the teachings of Saint Thomas Aquinas in the "Summa Theologica".

Jan helped many youngsters, plumb the depths of God. He helped them to live in union with "Him" and in His sanctifying grace that was the divine life of their souls.

When Jan died, He was only 47 years old. He suffered excruciating pain caused by a terrible infection on his arm.

His Face was radiant, as He would now see God Face to Face on that day in March 1947.

The Kingdom of the Precious Blood as visualized by Father Faber

Introduction :

God's Life is Vast. We kneel before God in Prayer just as a Man may care to kneel down on a secluded beach worshipping or venerating God.

The same goes with the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. The Precious Blood of Jesus is vast and has Infinite Power.

The Precious Blood of Our Adorable Lord became ransom for sinful "Human Beings". The Precious Blood conquered back for the Eternal Father what was lost, forsaken, and rebellious.

To Father Faber as well as to us Mortals-- The Precious Blood cannot be separated from the Divine Life of the Eternal Father. It is the Blood of God, the Number 1 Agent of Mankind's Redemption and it has within it the Power to sanctify.

The Precious Blood can be seen in a new and true light. It is an excellent invention of God. Not only this, It stands for the Pure Nature of God and displays the magnificent Power of God.

To Father Faber, The Precious Blood stands for God's Reparation for sins committed by Human Kind as well as is an "Expression" of God's Love towards Human Beings.

The Precious Blood is a "Conqueror" of Sin and Death in more ways than one. The Invasion of Hell is complete by the Omnipotent Power of the Precious Blood.

Exiles from God and those Alienated from Him are brought home through the glorious intercession of the Precious Blood.

The Precious Blood does numerous things which are outstanding and wonderful.

It pardons the worst of sinners and builds up fruitfully God's Kingdom on Earth.

In short, It is the Crown and Throne of God's Invisible Power over Planet Earth.

Conclusion :

The Month of July is dedicated to the Precious Blood. Let us always pray to the Precious Blood and never forsake it since, it is the "Scarlet Mantle" of God's Divine Royalty.

Enrico Saiz -- A Noteworthy Spanish Martyr

95 Members of the Salesian Family were martyred during the Spanish Civil War.

The Groups at Seville and Madrid were headed by Father Enrico Saiz Aparicio.

Father Enrico was the courageous Rector of the Salesian Minor Seminary at Carabanchel Alto on the outskirts of Madrid.

When the Militia burst into the institution, He said "If You want Blood, Here I am. But don't harm the Boys".

The Boys were released while Father Enrico was captured and killed.

A short time before, He died He confided to a Friend : "What is better than dying for the Glory of God ??

He offered His Life in exchange for the lives of His Boys who had been entrusted to him by Divine Providence.

He gave Himself for them, till His Last Breath.

The Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Sheshan

The Month of May is a Month dedicated to Our Lady.

Catholics Don the Robe of Pilgrims and Flock to Marian Shrines all over the world.

May is Our Mother Mary's Special Time in China. It is the time when Chinese Catholics from all walks of life visit Shrines of Our Lady in various parts of China.

An Outstanding part of Devotion to Our Lady is the Faith of Chinese Catholic Fishermen who make the time to visit Sheshan faithfully Year in and Year Out.

In 1989, Pope Saint John Paul the Great, had said that through his prayers Our Lady of Sheshan also known as Our Lady Help of Christians would be a "Benevolent Mother" to the Chinese People.

Sheshan surrounded by Nine Peaks is some 35 Kilometres from the City of Shanghai.

Its Bamboo Forests, Winding Paths, and Running and Flowing Streams of Water make it an excellent location for praying to the Mother of God.

According to various Legends, The Mountain surrounding Sheshan gets its name from a Hermit by the name of She -- who lived on the Mountain.

In 1866, The Catholic Church in Shanghai built a beautiful pavilion and consecrated an Altar and a Statue to Our Lady within its precincts.

A few years later, Jesuit Priests built a Beautiful Shrine -- Church at the top of the Mountain and consecrated it to Our Lady Help of Christians.

This Shrine Church was for a number of years the First Catholic Basilica in the Far East and became a popular pilgrimage site for Chinese Catholics.

Do I Appreciate the Gift of the Real Presence ??

A) Awareness of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament :

Are We as Catholic Christians truly aware of the Real Presence of Christ in the Tabernacle and on the Altar ??

Every Sunday, When We attend Mass Do We acknowledge this "Great Gift" or do we just go through the motions of attending Mass like any other "Mundane Matter".

Are We Sensitive to the Real Presence ??

Do we know who is it that we are receiving Sunday After Sunday.

Is Jesus Christ, The King of Our Soul and of Our Heart ??

B) Do we love the Person of Jesus Christ ??

The Person of Jesus Christ is Compassionate towards one and all.

See His Merciful Love in Action when He healed a Large Number of Lepers as well as when He raised a number of persons to Life.

I cannot stress this enough.

The Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ is available to us 24-7-365.

I will end by quoting a statement from my favourite author, Father Faber from his Book -- The Blessed Sacrament.

"The Blessed Sacrament is the Property of the Souls of Men".

The Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Christ -- An All Encompassing Heart

Introduction :

The Blessed Sacrament is the "Great Work" of God's Love for Christ and His Presence and Evangelical Mysteries continue in this most Holy Sacrament.

Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the everlasting "Rock" because he gives strength to us.

In Him, only we are secure and can decipher our authentic identity.

There is definitely "No Wrong" in Jesus Christ because He is totally loving and totally good. Evil comes from Satan and a Pagan World.

When we come before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, His expression is to open the floodgates of His Divine Mercy upon us and upon the whole world.

We ask for God's Mercy not only for ourselves but for all Humanity too.

We see God face to face in the Holy Eucharist when we make an act of belief in His Real Presence -- Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity and truly believe that he is "Living Bread" from Paradise giving his flesh for the sake of sinful humanity.

God so loved the world that he sent His only begotten Son -- Jesus, the Christ.

God continues to so love the world that he continues to send us Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.

To see, the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus is to cherish the words of the Eternal Father -- I have loved you always and my affection for you is never changing.

Jesus Christ, is the most Appreciative Person who ever lived. His Eucharistic Heart was deeply moved by the Leper who returned to thank him and give him glory.

Our Belief in Him will console His Eucharistic Heart for those who reject Him.

Today, In an everchanging world -- People and Humanity at large are constantly searching for a "Sense of Belonging". The Eucharistic Heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is a permanent sign that we belong to Him and are His people in more ways than one.

The Natural Condition of Man is to feel that God is far away. To feel distant and not in sync with God is a normal feeling which has to be overcome with God - Given -Grace and Faith.

God is constantly speaking to us that he cares for us and that he deeply loves us.

The Proof of His Love is in the Blessed Sacrament where He is with us Day and Night.

We live in a "Pagan World" which wants satisfaction from carnal pleasures. But Jesus, teaches us that it is "His Divine Spirit" working within each one of us that can give only Life and Fulfillment as Jesus sees best.

There is no better place to get "Super - Human" strength to overcome the World's Temptations than in the Eucharistic Heart of Our Divine Saviour.

Jesus chooses each one of us, to Praise Him, Thank Him, and Adore Him so that He may refill us with Blessings from His "Divine Temple" -- namely His Eucharistic Heart.

We should have "Confidence" in the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. It matters to Jesus what tragedy is taking place in our 'Personal Life' or the calamities that take place in the world simply because His Eucharistic Heart is faithful to the end.

A Day will come soon, when Evil and the Evil One will be conquered victoriously by Jesus.

Jesus Christ will reign through the "All Powerful Love" of His Eucharistic Heart.

Conclusion :

The Blessed Sacrament is the "Holiest of all Holies" where God himself made Man dwells.

It cannot be destroyed simply because Jesus Christ is more powerful than all the Powers of Hell put together.

When we look at the "Sacred Host", we are invited by Jesus to make a "Spiritual Communion" in more ways than one.

The Blessed Sacrament is Jesus Christ crying out in every possible way that our happiness in life is "Possession of Him" and all that He stands for.

Our "Home" is within the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. Every Human Being that comes to worship Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is embraced by Him with unfathomable enthusiasm and delight.

The Divine Office and Gregorian Chant

1) The Divine Office :

All over the world, Benedictine Monks and Trappist Monks rise from their sleep in the middle of the night or towards early morning to chant the Divine Office.

They have been doing this for 900 years or more. The Divine Office is the singing of Psalms by Monks on a daily basis.

The First Office to be sung is known as Vigils. During Vigils, a set of Psalms are chanted by Monks for 30 minutes or so followed by a break which involves listening to some anecdotes written by a Monk during the early years of the Church.

After this another set of Psalms is chanted by the Monks. Vigils chanted on a early Sunday Morning is my favourite office as it involves the singing of the Resurrection Office which is so beautiful which no words can express.

After 2-3 Hours, the next Divine Office chanted is known as Lauds or Matins followed by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Lauds is a Beautiful Divine Office as it is chanted when things are bright in the morning and the Sun's Rays seem to be everywhere.

The next 2 Divine Offices to be chanted by Monks are known as Prime and Terce respectively.

Prime is chanted before Lunch while Terce is chanted after Lunch.

In the evening, when Monks get together after a Hard Day's Work -- Vespers are chanted in the Abbey Church followed by a light supper.

The Final Office of the Day that is chanted is known as Compline. This Divine Office is chanted when everything is silent in and around the Monastery in the night before the Monks retire for the night. It ends with the Hail Holy Queen which is chanted by the Monks in Latin.

2) Gregorian Chant :

Gregorian Chant is the Unique Singing of Hymns and Masses by Benedictine Monks. In Gregorian Chant, Monks sing with one voice without the help of musical instruments.

This has been going on for 500 years or more in Benedictine Abbeys in Europe.

The Benedictine Monastery of the Abbey of Solesmes in France has specialised in the singing of Masses and Hymns in Latin.

My favourite Masses sung by them are -- Mass for the Feast of Christ the King, Mass in Honour of the Immaculate Conception, and Mass for the Annunciation.

The Benedictine Monastery of the Abbey of Saint Michael of Montserrate specializes in the singing of Good Friday Vespers.

Gregorian Chant Music during Holy Week is their speciality.

My Mother and the Catholic Faith

My Mother Mrs Lena D'sa passed away on May 15, 2016 at the age of 77.

She was a virtuous woman in more ways than one. From the age of 7, she taught me the ABC's of the Catholic Faith and how to be a Gentleman to all concerned. She nurtured the Catholic Faith in me to the nth degree.

Between the ages of 10-15, She built up my Catholic Faith and my Prayer Life by teaching me the Rosary and how to say it, she also taught me several other prayers like the 15 Prayers to Saint Bridget of Sweden, Prayers to the Blessed Sacrament, and Prayers to Our Lady under various titles but specially to Our Lady, Help of Christians to whom she had a tender devotion.

All this, helped me to persevere along Life's way when the going got tough.

Between the ages of 15-20, My Mother taught me the most important prayer in my life ---- namely the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the 3.00 Prayer along with the Novena to the Divine Mercy which is to be said from Good Friday onwards for 9 days.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy proved to be "Miraculous" in my life specially when I had to confront various forms of evil both in India and in the United States where I lived for 5 years.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy when said by me from 3.00 - 4.00 in the afternoon gave me much succour and answers to questions in life.

In 1994, a Chinese Catholic Gentleman who was a lay evangelist from Hong Kong came into my life and the life of my Mother spiritually.

He sent us Tons of Printed Literature on the Divine Mercy Devotion to be distributed to Catholics living in Metro Cities all across India.

Since, We live in Bandra West, in Mumbai -- My Mother in 1994 approached me to help her to distribute Divine Mercy Leaflets to Catholics living in Flats in different parts of Bandra.

This I did with my Mother from 1994-1997.

We used to attend Mass in the evening in different churches in Bandra West and later visit Flats of Catholics with Divine Mercy Literature. On a Few Occasions We did it before Mass started.

My Mother greatly believed in one of the promises connected to the Divine Mercy Devotion that is the Lord would protect those who would propagate his Message of Mercy as a "Mother Protects Her Child".

My Mother was surely one of the greatest Human Beings that ever lived.

The Divine Mercy in My Life

April 23, 2017 is Divine Mercy Sunday.

From the age of 17 in 1988, I was attracted to the Divine Mercy Image because of the two rays that emanate from it.

One Ray stands for the Sacrament of Baptism and the other Ray stands for the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

The Motto below the Image, Jesus, I trust in You has brought Blessings and Miracles in my Life.

While, I was studying for my Degree in Commercial Studies -- I was harassed no end by Anti-Socials.

I had to endure terrible evil at their hands.

If Today, I am not a Heroin Addict or Cocaine Addict -- It is only because of Jesus Christ The Divine Mercy.

While living in Philadelphia in the United States -- The Divine Mercy actively protected me from Criminals, Robbers, and Drug Dealers.

Jesus Christ is the Divine Mercy present Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist.

He is Your Friend and Brother in more ways than one.

Say the 3.00 Prayer and Divine Mercy Chaplet at least once a week.

It brings great and untold Blessings and Miracles in one's life.

Try It ------- It Works.

The Precious Blood and Me

I am deeply indebted to God. He is my reason for living in this turbulent world.

I am completely dependent on the Precious Blood on a moment to moment basis. The Precious Blood sanctifies me in more ways than one specially when I feel that Life is not worth living because of the turbulent nature found among humanity.

Jesus Christ and His Precious Blood is "Indispensable" to Me. The Precious Blood inspires me to live in a state of grace worthy of living.

Simply Put, I cannot live without Jesus Christ and His Precious Blood.

His Precious Blood makes me completely dependent on Jesus Christ.

The Precious Blood is my true liberty in this god forsaken world filled with seductive pleasures of every kind.

Just as One, cannot live without Air Or Water so also I as a Christian Catholic cannot live without Jesus Christ and His Sanctifying Blood.

The World would be a "Poorer" Place without Jesus Christ. The Precious Blood has an aura of indispensable sweetness around it.

The Precious Blood satiates our souls in more ways than one.

This then, is the Precious Blood in more ways than one.

Mother Mary and Me

From the age of 5, Mother Mary has been my Guide and Intercessor through the thick and thin of life.

At the age of 12, when I was suffering from a bad bout of "Whooping Cough" I appealed to Mother Mary to cure me as soon as possible.

In no time, I was miraculously cured of this ailment.

Since, I have a weak back I sometimes find it difficult or impossible to carry heavy parcels.

Mother Mary with her reassuring smile gives me confidence in more ways than one to do the job at hand.

In May 2016, when I lost my Mother -- Mother Mary proved to be my "Consoler" to the nth degree. I realized I had a "Heavenly Mother" to whom I could go to 24-7-365 when my earthly mother was no more.

The Holy Rosary which is my favourite prayer has a "Secret Charm". It simplifies the life of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Joys, the Sorrows, and the Glories of his Mother Mary and not to forget the Public Ministry of Jesus Christ vis - a -vis his Mother Mary.

It is Mother Mary's View of Jesus Christ, Her Love of Him, and Worship of Him which the Holy Rosary brings before us.

All in All, it must be said that there is no intercessor like Mother Mary.

Jesus Christ and Me

From a very young age, I was blessed to have a Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ.

To me, Jesus Christ is my Divine Redeemer and Brother in more ways than one. His constant caring nature moves me considerably.

What touched me the most about Jesus Christ is his love on the Cross when humanity had abandoned him completely. Here, we see the Man-God who was willing to shed every drop of his Precious Blood for sinful humanity and indifferent humanity. Every soul is a precious soul in the eyes of Jesus Christ.

The Divine Blood of Jesus Christ and salvation through Him saves us from eternal damnation.

Between the ages of 10-14, I was not a very religious person. But, soon after, my relationship with Jesus Christ began to assume a concrete nature. At the age of 17, I was blessed to have a personal encounter with the Risen Christ Jesus when I encountered him in the Divine Mercy at home. It was precisely at this time, that I began to also develop a personal relationship with the Sacramental Jesus Christ. I was amazed that Jesus Christ though he is the Man-God has humbled himself for eternity in the form of the Sacred Host.

The streams of Blood and Water that overflow from the Merciful Heart of Jesus showered me with graces and blessings in more ways than one. I have constantly felt the Hand of the Merciful Jesus Christ on me urging me to go on in life despite all difficulties and obstacles.

The Sacred Host to me, though small in size has vast spiritual benefits. It is precisely in the Sacred Host that Jesus Christ is present Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. The Sacred Host, to me has 2 rays constantly coming out of it. These are rays of Love and Mercy. I have been promoting the Divine Mercy, as I believe the Divine Mercy has infinite power to change the world.

Jesus Christ and Sister Josefa Menendez

From 1919 to 1923, Jesus Christ showed himself to the Spanish Sister Josefa Menendez and gave her a great message for the world, telling her : "The Soul which eats my flesh possesses God, the Author of Life and so that soul becomes my Heaven.

Nothing can be compared with it in beauty. The Angels, admire this soul and since God is in it they prostrate themselves and adore.

"Your Soul, therefore is my Heaven and each time you receive me in the Eucharist, my grace increases in you and its beauty grows.

Again on March 7th 1923, Jesus Christ appeared to this Sister to show her the feelings He had when he instituted the Blessed Eucharist.

He said to her "My Daughter, I want to make you know what my Heart suffered in the Hour in which not being able to contain the fire which consumed me, I invented this wonder of love, the Holy Eucharist !!

Contemplating all the souls, which would have eaten this Divine Bread I saw all the coldness of so many souls !!

What suffering to my Heart !!

And, yet I remain in the Tabernacle Day and Night waiting for whoever chooses to receive Me !!

The Holy Eucharist is the Invention of Love. It is the Life and Strength of Souls, the remedy for all their weaknesses and the viaticum for their passage to eternity.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Eucharistic Adoration

Mother Teresa used to make a Holy Hour everyday in the presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.

All the Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity also make a daily Holy Hour as well because they find that through their daily Holy Hour their love for Jesus Christ becomes more loving, their love for each other the more understanding and their love for the poor more compassionate.

Their Holy Hour is their daily Family Prayer where they get together and pray the Holy Rosary before the exposed Blessed Sacrament for the first Half-Hour and during the second half hour they pray in silence.

Their Adoration before Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament has doubled the number of vocations to their community.

In 1963, They were making a weekly holy hour together, but it was not until 1973 when they began their daily Holy Hour that their community started to grow and blossom.

The time we spend with Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time that we will spend on earth.

Each moment that we spend with Jesus Christ will deepen our union with Him and make our soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in Heaven and will help to bring about an everlasting peace on earth.

When we look at the Crucifix, we understand how much Jesus Christ loved us.

When we look at the Sacred Host, we understand how much Jesus Christ loves us NOW.

The Real Presence in the words of John Chapter 6 Verses 1-59

The Gospel of John Chapter 6 Verses 1-59 is the "Biblical Foundation" for the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.

Jesus Christ says that "He is the Bread of Life" and that His Flesh is True Food and that His Blood is True Drink.

The Council of Trent in its infinite wisdom totally relied on these passages in John : 6 now known as the "Bread of Life Discourse" when it enunciated the Doctrine of the Real Presence in the 14th Century.

Christ had a plan to be with us in the most humble way forever by being substantially present in the "'Sacred Host" each time we receive Holy Communion.

Christ is present among us -- Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. This is what is meant by the Real Presence.

The Real Presence is a "Magnificent Gift" given by Christ himself to us -- Mortal Beings.

It is something to be marvelled at. In the Gospel of Saint John Chapter 6 Verses 1-59 we come to understand the Beauty and Meaning of the Holy Eucharist.

Everyone who is a Baptized Catholic Christian must believe this "Infallible Teaching". Everyone should believe that Jesus Christ through his omnipotent presence in the Holy Eucharist loves each one of us in a deep, personal, and unconditional way like no other "Divine Being" is capable of loving us.

We are all "Special" in the eyes of Jesus Christ. His Real Presence is indicative of that.

Jesus Christ wants each one of us to say in His or Her own way -- Jesus, I believe in your love for Me.

God the True Shepherd and Jesus Christ the Good Shepherd

There is a deep rooted connection between the Book of Ezekiel Chapter 34 Verses 11-16 and the Gospel of John Chapter 10 Verses 1-18.

God is the True Shepherd who is constantly looking out for us -- His Sheep. His Love is an everlasting Love. We are His "Precious Souls" who matter most to Him.

God is an "Authentic Shepherd" who will collect all His Sheep who have been scattered among various countries close and far.

God is a caring shepherd that will feed all his sheep with the Body and Blood of His Son in the Holy Eucharist which is a Sacrament of Grace and Mercy.

God feeds his Sheep with the finest wheat that is available and present in the Holy Eucharist.

God is a Shepherd that makes available good grazing land for his sheep namely the "Sacraments".

In John Chapter 10 Verses 1-18, Jesus Christ openly says that He is the "Good Shepherd". He leads us on the right path to God the Father. He refreshes us on our everlasting journey by filling us with Life Giving Waters of Grace.

Jesus Christ is a "Caring Shepherd" to be distinguished from False Shepherds who come in various disguises to lead precious souls down the garden path to perdition.

Jesus Christ cares for each one of us who are His "Precious Sheep". He is constantly caring for us and goes out looking for stray sheep and lost sheep.

His Desire is to have One Flock and One Shepherd.

Finally, One can say that Jesus Christ the True and Good Shepherd is "Spiritual Medicine" for us who is the ultimate Guardian of Our Souls.

Book Of Isaiah -- Chapter 53 Prophecy of the Suffering Christ

This is a Lenten Special.

The Prophet Isaiah was a Counsellor to Kings in Ancient Israel.

He correctly predicts the Suffering, Passion, and Death of the Messiah in Chapter 53.

Various Verses in Chapter 53 recount the Horror that visited Christ who was like an Innocent Lamb to the Shearers ( These are the Barbaric Roman Soldiers).

The Scourging, Whipping, and Crowning of Thorns is correctly predicted by the Prophet Isaiah in verse after verse.

It is evident from a cursory reading of Chapter 53 that Christ was "Predestined" to Die for Sinful Humanity.

Meditations during Lent :

A) The Wound of Rejection :

He was spurned and avoided by Men Isaiah 53: 39

Jesus Christ saw down through the ages how he would be left bitterly alone forsaken by all and sundry.

He realized how he would be rejected by so many and appreciated only by few among his chosen people.

It is widely believed that Jesus Christ sweated Blood in the Garden of Gethsemane brought about by a broken heart caused by betrayal and indifference.

B) The Wound of Misunderstanding :

He was pierced for our offences, crushed for our sins; upon Him was the chastisement that makes us whole by his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4)

Jesus Christ is "Heavenly Wheat" who was subject to Hellish Torment at the hands of his Executioners. He was scourged brutally by the Roman Soldiers and their accomplices.

The Bitter Pain, faced by Jesus Christ is unfathomable when he came face to face with Pilate -- The Governor.

The Shouting Mob preferred a hardened rogue and criminal namely Barrabas as compared to the Person of Our Divine Saviour Jesus Christ.

The Shouting Mob failed to appreciate his Divine Love and failed to recognize Him as the God -- Man.

C) The Wound of Ingratitude :

There was in Him no stately bearing to make us look at him, nor appearance that would attract us to Him, spurned and we held him in no esteem. ( Isaiah 53 : 2)

There is not only a Crown of Thorns on the Divine Head of Jesus Christ, but also around his Divine Heart.

Jesus Christ, the Holy Lamb of God is not respected for who he is simply because there is no majesty or kingly appearance about him. His appearance during his Sorrowful Passion is such that Men want to hide their faces from Him.

D) The Wound of Failure : He was counted among the wicked ( Isaiah 53 : 12)

Jesus Christ embraced His Cross because he loved Humanity immensely. Just as a Traveller from the country namely Simeon helped Christ carry his Cross, so also the Divine Saviour aids us in carrying our various crosses.

All trials that we suffer lead us to a complete union with Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was a "Unique Person" who drew good out of every evil that was thrust upon him. He was successful in converting Humanity's Failures to a complete good outcome.

E) The Wound of Abandonment :

He was cut off from the Land of the Living ( Isaiah 53 : 8)

Jesus Christ, when he was on the Cross realized that he was completely abandoned specially by sinful humanity.

Nobody wanted him except God the Father. He now commends each one of us to the Eternal Father forever and ever Amen.

Jesus Christ as a Mature Youth in the words of the Prophet Isaiah

Today, I am dealing with Jesus Christ as a Young Man in the words of the Prophet Isaiah.

Chapter 11 of the Book of Isaiah -- Verses 1-5 deal exclusively with the spiritual awakening and maturing of Jesus Christ.

It is in these verses that we learn about the Plan of God the Father, for Jesus Christ.

Herein, lies not only the "Messianic Call" but the acknowledgement by Jesus Christ that not only God is His Father but that He is the only begotten "Son of God".

Here, He has numerous debates with Scripture Scholars and leading Pharisees.

Jesus Christ, begins to discern those who are for God and those who are not.

He clearly discerns Good from Evil.

He accepts Baptism in the River Jordan at the hands of his Beloved Cousin -- John the Baptist.

He also realizes, that he is being persecuted by a large section of Pharisees simply because he calls himself -- The Son of God.

After receiving the "Messianic Call", He goes about preaching the Kingdom of God, curing people of various maladies of Body and Soul, raising the Dead to Life, and chasing out people from the Temple who have made it a "Bazaar" or Market Place of sorts.

Jesus Christ matures fully at this point of time and realizes that some will accept him as the "Messiah" and some will not.

In Chapter 11, Verses 1-5; Jesus Christ is the Messiah -- The Chosen One.

Finally, the Famous Beatitudes on the Mount are delivered by Jesus Christ where he calls on people who worship him to be meek and love one another as a part of the Christian Vocation to Godliness.

Please read Chapter 11 of the Book of Isaiah Verses 1-5 for your spiritual nourishment.
